Teachers who read, think, question — and stay.
80+ trained educators, most with 10+ years of classroom experience, guided by a shared philosophy of care and rigour.
A great school is finally the sum of its teachers. Everything else is furniture.
The S.D. faculty is drawn from across India — post-graduates and doctorates, career teachers and mid-career professionals who chose the classroom. Every teacher completes at least 40 hours of professional development each year, participates in peer classroom observations, and mentors a small cohort of students beyond their subject.
We do not hire only for qualification. We hire for warmth, curiosity, and the ability to explain hard ideas simply. The average teaching experience at S.D. is 12 years, and our teacher retention rate is above 90% — a rare number in Indian schooling and one we are quietly proud of.
How our teachers teach.
Eight core methodologies shape every classroom at S.D. School — from Nursery through Class XII. These are not slogans; they are what a visitor will actually see if they walk into any of our rooms.
Inquiry-Based Learning
Our teachers begin lessons with a question, not an answer. Children investigate, hypothesise and discover — building deep understanding rather than memorising surface facts.
Small Group & Collaborative Work
Class sizes are kept small (1:15 in Primary, 1:20 in Senior). Peer learning, pair work and structured group discussions are woven into every subject.
Experiential & Hands-on
From primary EVS field trips to senior physics labs, learning happens through doing. Our teachers plan at least one experiential activity per week per subject.
Concept-First Pedagogy
Aligned with NEP 2020 and CBSE's competency framework, our teachers prioritise concept mastery over rote learning — assessments test application, not recall.
Socratic Dialogue
Middle and senior classrooms use guided questioning to help students reason, defend positions and think critically. Teachers listen more than they speak.
Differentiated Instruction
Every child learns differently. Our teachers plan lessons with tiered tasks, visual/auditory/kinaesthetic entry points, and one-on-one remedial support where needed.
Arts & Play-Integrated Learning (Foundation)
In Nursery to Class II, learning is delivered through stories, songs, art and structured play — following the NCF-FS (Foundational Stage) framework.
Social-Emotional Learning
Every teacher is trained in child psychology basics. Weekly circle-time in Primary and mentor sessions in Senior classes ensure children feel seen and heard.
A faculty as varied as our students.
Our teachers hold degrees from institutions across India — from Delhi University and JNU to IITs, IISERs, NITs and regional universities. Many have prior industry or research experience before joining education.
Teachers who keep learning.
Every S.D. teacher participates in a structured, year-long professional growth programme that includes:
- Monthly in-house pedagogy workshops
- Peer classroom observations (2 per term)
- Annual CBSE and NCERT training modules
- Access to educator subscriptions (Learning Curve, EPW, TED-Ed)
- Subject-wise cluster meetings across Kota schools
- Sabbaticals for further study (subsidised)
